Real people make unreal actors

There’s no doubt about it – the best people to promote a business, product or service are those who’ve got actual skin in the game. Apart from their intimate product knowledge and experience, the stakeholders (be they owners, staff members or customers) often embody a passion and commitment to promoting their particular thing that nobody else can really do it better….unless, that is, you point a video camera at them.

There’s nothing quite like the threat of a being ‘on-camera’ to turn the nicest human being into a quivering mess of tense muscle and shimmering sweat marks.

Yet the internet has largely forced advertisers to tell the truth in their media communications (if they don’t, watch out for the tsunami of social media backlash.) So again, we’re faced with the challenge of putting real people on camera but having them look relaxed and credible so the audience will believe what they’re saying. That’s what WANTED has become very successful at – making non-TV presenters look and sound good on camera.
Of course, the next step is to get ‘real people’ acting like un-real people. That’s precisely what iSite wanted for their latest installment in their series of product launch videos. Last year the (iSite Spies like us video) set the standard for media-company-comedy-spoof-videos and helped iSite win multiple Gold and Silver awards at the NZDM Awards 2014, so this year they wanted to continue the fun. In concert with Ben Cochrane and his team at The Business we produced a video which has some of NZ’s top media agency personnel acting out their worst Agoraphobic fears.
Take a look and observe how almost anyone can be moulded into a believable Hollywood A-list actor (with a bit of sensitive Direction from WANTED, of course).
